~ The original title of this book was The Kinds Of Wanting. How do you see the notion of ‘wanting’ or desire, and its converse, ‘rejecting,’ play out in the novel?
~ What do you think the main characters have in common? (Guinevere, Griffyn ‘Pagan,’, as well as Marcus, and other prominent secondary characters)
~ What would you have done, if your were Gwyn, at different points in the story? What about when the prince was first brought to her? When Griffyn assumed lordship over the castle? How about when he left for Ispile-Upon-Tyne? And at his return? Would you have acted differently? Why?
~ What finally ‘turned’ Gywn, and made her reveal her secret to Griffyn?
~ How do personal values play into the choices the characters make? How do those values change over the course of the novel? Have you ever done something that seemed like the ‘right’ thing to do, then later re-thought it, because you saw it differently?
~ What was the one thing Gwyn desperately needed? How about Griffyn? How did they attempt to manage this unmet need over the course of the story, and how did it change from the start to the end?
~ Did you find the ending satisfying? What elements were satisfying, and which were not? Why?
